Servicing your Air Conditioning

    Servicing Details

    Whats involved

Depending on what type of system you have and the environment it's been operating in will command different servicing requirements. For example, a busy shop will high footfall traffic will doors opening and closing may require a filter clean at least every 1-3 months along with a 6 monthly  service. In comparison a guest bedroom in your home that has little use would only require a yearly service and check over. We can advise you upon inspection on what maybe required to prolong the life of your unit and keep your system running efficiently.

    Indoor unit

They all consist of the same components no matter whether its a ceiling cassette, wall mount or under ceiling.

    • Fan Motor and Blade
    • Evaporator Coil
    • Filters
    • Condensate drain pan
    • Facias and Louvres

These parts will need inspecting and cleaning during a service, depending on condition of the unit may require a 'deep clean' which involves disabling the unit in to component form for an intensive cleaning procedure.

    Outdoor Unit

All split type air-conditioning systems have an indoor unit coupled to an outdoor unit. Often these get overlooked or forgotten about as they are hidden up or out of sight! The outdoor 'condensing unit' contains one of the main component in the system, the compressor.

Generally speaking if you keep this part of the system clean and free from debris you will get the maximum life span from your unit. Clogged condenser coils cause the compressor to over heat leading to all sorts of problems which is why we advise a minimum of annual servicing.

Servicing the outdoor system usually involves the following:

    • Cleaning of the condenser coil.
    • F gas leak checking of flared joints and assessable connections
    • Cleaning of the casing / cowling
    • Checking power supply points and electrical connections.
    • Checking operation modes and temperatures.

This all relates to a small split system but procedures / requirements vary from unit to unit and

    Controls

Units can be controlled via handheld Infra red remotes, hard wired controls on the wall, BMS to apps on your smart phone. Its import to check they are setup up correctly for your requirements and so the unit is running efficiently.
