Depending on what type of system you have and the environment it's been operating in will command different servicing requirements. For example, a busy shop will high footfall traffic will doors opening and closing may require a filter clean at least every 1-3 months along with a 6 monthly service. In comparison a guest bedroom in your home that has little use would only require a yearly service and check over. All split type air-conditioning systems have an indoor unit coupled to an outdoor unit. Often these get overlooked or forgotten about as they are hidden up or out of sight! The outdoor 'condensing unit' contains one of the main component in the system, the compressor.
Generally speaking if you keep this part of the system clean and free from debris you will get the maximum life span from your unit. Clogged condenser coils cause the compressor to over heat leading to all sorts of problems which is why we advise a minimum of annual servicing.
